DTLA is no stranger to change and transformation, and the renovations and construction required to update an old garment building into Zinque's only downtown location was just the kind of transformational 180 that we were happy to take on. Our team drew up and executed construction plans that remade an old open-concept sewing space into a compliant restaurant, complete with a functioning exhaust hood, ADA accessibility, and egress code implementation. To accomplish this, we fabricated wider exit and bathroom routes and lower bar seating while maintaining the signature cozy, intimate, Morrocan atmosphere that Zinque's brand was built on. We saw the process of construction and permit plans through until the very end, which meant coordinating with the city for alcohol licensing and construction permits, as well as the Los Angeles Historical Society. We were proud to serve Zinque as both their designers and architect of records, and to have worked with their interior design team, Studio MAI.
