Wanting to take advantage of the fresh sea air and beautiful views of the Santa Monica Boardwalk, Masillia's new owners hired us to transform a once closed-off Border Grill restaurant into an airy, french-inspired bistro. The goal was to summon the ambiance of Marseille and extend the outdoor dining space while preserving the historical elements of the building. To accomplish this, our team drew up plans to; remove the pre-existing taco window and replace it with a high-end bar, create more outdoor seating and space for booth seats to foster an intimate setting, and preserve the building's ornate exposed brick wall. In addition to gutting much of the building while preserving its historical features, our team managed all administrative tasks and building permits associated with the work.
